In Memory of Alysha Waye

By Cheryl Waye OAM

I've created this page in memory of my daughter Alysha 💛

Alysha was one of those people who sparkled. She inspired everyone she knew and lifted the energy of any room she was in.

Alysha spent every minute working hard to make the world a better place for others in a similar situation as her, and the world is a better place because of her. For Alysha, it was more than just brain cancer, her passion for disability issues and improving accessibility was phenomenal and what she achieved was remarkable.

When Alysha was diagnosed with the most common and aggressive form of adult brain cancer in 2015, she made the decision to make waves. In the three-and-a-half years she survived after that diagnosis, she became a fierce brain cancer advocate, an inspirational supporter of the cause, and a loyal friend to so many.

Her first walk in 2016, on the 12-month anniversary of her diagnosis brought about the hashtag #GOAWAYEGLADYS and over 200 people walked with her. She raised tens of thousands of dollars for brain cancer research through her participation in Walk4BrainCancer events and her attendance at Dine for a Cure, where she spoke eloquently about her journey in 2017.

Even in the final months of her life, Alysha never stopped campaigning for the cause, donating funds she had raised for her own treatment to Cure Brain Cancer Foundation so that it could benefit others, not just her. Alysha passed away in February 2019, but her legacy and her impact will live on forever.

By donating to Alysha’s in memory page you are helping us carry on Alysha’s legacy to help others through research and clinical trials.
